The Session
THE SESSION includes the pastor with up to 12 elders and they are responsible for the spiritual nurture & government of Grace Presbyterian Church (GPC). The Session is administratively managed by the Clerk of Session.
Each year in the fall, Elders are nominated by the GPC Nominating Committee and elected by the congregation. In January, the newly elected elders are ordained or installed (if already ordained) during a worship service. GPC has three classes of elders with each class serving a 3-year term. Elders may be eligible to serve a second 3-year term, however, any Elder who has served 6 consecutive years shall be ineligible for election to Session for at least one year. The GPC session normally meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
There are 7 committees that report to our session: Christian Education, Property, Outreach and Mission, Stewardship and Finance, Worship and Arts, Communication and Technology, and Personnel. The Elders also provide the leadership for these church committees which manage the operation and maintenance of GPC’s ministry and mission.
*Committee members can be comprised of GPC members and nonmembers.
