The Deacons

The Deacons are the “caring arm” of the Church. They are the hands and heart of the church in our ministry of caring. In our church family, many people have all kinds of needs – they are recovering from surgery, grieving, lonely, ill, homebound, or otherwise in a time where they especially welcome the care from this ministry. Serving as a Deacon gives you the opportunity to know other church members in a deeper way, by walking alongside them and growing in your understanding of the burdens people carry and how the church can help.

Deacon candidates are also brought forth for election by the congregation each year by the GPC Nominating Committee. The number of classes and time of terms served are the same as that of an Elder. The GPC Deacons normally meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
